It was a UCLA basketball game.

I’ve loved watching UCLA basketball since the late 90′s/early 2000′s. Since I took up photography and have become even more passionate about UCLA basketball, it’s become more of a desire to actually shoot a game on the floor. With some fortunate overlap of work and pleasure, the opportunity came up this year, and I’ve got some images to share as a result. UCLA vs UCI at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

Josh Smith is a man among boys UCLA captain and point guard Lazeric "Zeek" Jones on the defensive end of the court, guarding his man. Freshman guard Norman Powell led all Bruins with 19 points, he also had three steals. He was the star of the night and definitely a future NBA talent. It was brief and to the point (treats). I haven’t exactly trained them to be models, but they do sit real good for the chance at a bil-jac treat. You can see in the images how intense of a time it is for them. At some point, I’ll be able to get those happy-looking-panting type images, but that’s for another day. :)

My wife’s and my favorite is the one where they bolted straight for the treats being given. :)

It was a great experience for me, getting a chance to get some pro tips from George Simian before taking the headshots. About 12 models came to a luxury estate i Malibu, CA, posing for numerous stock photo shoots. Part of their compensation was free headshots. Here are some of my favorites from the morning.
