I know Brandon Barr through his brother Justin, who was my best man. Many years ago I did a headshot for Brandon, and he came back asking about doing a photo shoot and cover design for his upcoming book, American Midnight. He had a great model in mind, and we had a lot of fun with the photo shoot.
Brandon and I wanted something that was of emotion. Our model, Christine, represents the main character, Tania. Dark, emotional, fear, and anxiety were the words that we tried to convey through the shoot.
Here is my personal favorite from the shoot,

And here is the finished cover, used some images from iStockphoto.com.

Head over to Brandon’s blog to find out a little more about the book, and what he does.

Hi all.
Sorry for the lack of posting lately! Contrary to what you might think, it’s not that I haven’t been busy, it’s that I’ve been SO busy that I haven’t made time to post. I wanted to drop in with a baseball shot I did for iStockphoto.com.
I always try to stay a few months ahead of the curve with my stock work, hence putting baseball images up now (baseball season starts late March/early April, with spring training in February!)
This is an old, dirty baseball, and I thought with the right light it could turn out pretty cool.

Thanks for stopping by, and keep tuned in to see what 2010 holds! It looks to be an exciting year!

One of the highlights of my year, every year, is getting to shoot this family! Ryan Low was my RD when I was at Biola, and I spent a lot of time with him and the Low family just talking, eating, watching 24, and taking photos. A Christmas photo shoot became sort of a tradition, and the time came this year where we went at it again. This was probably the most fun shoot we’ve had yet!
Little Emily has come a long way from being such a whiner to the most helpful girl, grabbing Will when asked, and smiling beautifully!

Beautiful mom and daughter. The kids definitely got mom’s eyes. Sorry Ryan… but this is just okay with me.

Riding on Daddy’s shoulders… cute shot of father and daughter

I am going to quote from Ryan’s facebook: “it’s so funny because it looks like he was having a great time, but atually he was being a royal pain in the butt. There were a few times I wanted to throw him in a tree. But this was a good photo.”

Mom and her little boy!

Portraits of the kiddos

Another family shot.

So much fun… already looking forward to next year!

Had an opportunity to do a shoot for a non-profit organization, US Dream Academy. It was a combination of videography and photography. As I was driving home, I passed one of the more interesting displays of art that I had ever seen in person. I made my own display of art of said display of art.

My first album from a company based in Italy just arrived! I’m so excited to be able to offer these to the people I work with. I couldn’t be happier with what they produced. The sample definitely did the trick, I will be working with them unless something even better comes up.
Christmas Ornament for scale. Also got “pocket-books” with this order.

Closeup of the leather. Next album will be amazing – the whole album will be covered in plexiglass like the triangle insert of this cover

Now presenting… Mr. and Mrs. Ryan and Cristina Tirrell! I had such a great time photographing this wedding at Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. The venue was serene, and the people were awesome. Enjoy taking a look at some of the images from the day.
The groom getting a helping hand… from his entire family.

The Tirrell family!

The dress awaits…

Beautiful rings

The groom and his men

Detail in the dress

The flowers were done wonderfully

And finally, the beautiful bride Cristina, and a portrait of Ryan

This was all they got before the wedding…

They’re taking a break from handing out programs to watch the ceremony.

Cristina and her father, as the doors open

I’d say he looks happy to see her, wouldn’t you?

Here’s the scene

Bridesmaids holding their flowers

Pastor Shoemaker sharing a laugh with the soon-to-be newlyweds

The kiss…

More..

Relief!

All of the bridesmaids with Cristina

Cristina’s ring was beautiful. I also have to give props to Ryan, his was pretty neat as well.

Show us those pearly whites…

The families!

Loving this one

A candid moment

Only these two know what was just said!

The view from Ryan’s shoulder.

Clearly enjoying their wedding day!

Their grand entrance to the reception hall

Ryan’s brother and best man Jeff giving a toast

Their first dance… ahhh, Sinatra.
